Craps Strategy: Dice Control

A craps strategy that has been the subject of much debate is dice control.

Dice control is a method of rolling the dice, allegedly to make it more likely to produce a certain result. The outcome of dice control is not to produce exact numbers, but rather to make it more or less likely to roll a seven, depending on the situation.

There are three phases to dice control: setting the dice, gripping the dice and throwing the dice. Each phase has different mechanics that the successful dice controller must learn and practice extensively to master.

There are a number of gambling professionals, including Frank Scoblete,Sharpshooter and The Dominator, who put themselves forth as experts on dice control. These individuals have books and seminars designed to teach people how to control the dice in craps. The dice control books generally come with illustrations that show shooters exactly how to position the dice, how they should look and how the various dice grips work. The seminars can be interactive, with participants trying their dice control skills at a table set up for this purpose.

Any evidence that dice control might work is anecdotal at this time, although some gambling experts, such as Stanford Wong and Beau Parker, insist that dice control works. However they stress that dice control requires a great deal of skill and patience to master, and just learning the techniques is by no means a guarantee of success as a professional craps player.
